I haven't updated my progress with Project: Me for a while, so here is what I've accomplished so far:
- I finally chopped off my hair (for real!) and lightened it a bit
- I've lost 6 pounds
- I'm in the habit of drinking 8-10 glasses of water a day, and only 1 cup of coffee a day
- I cut out most alcohol
- I'm eating (and loving) mostly fresh produce - most processed foods are gone from my diet
- I got in the habit of walking again - then I got sick and stopped - I need to start up again
Cutting my hair was a big deal to me. I had anything between a pixie cut and short bob between 8th grade and sophomore year of college, so when I started growing it out in my 20s, I never thought I'd go back again. Now that I'm married with 2 kids, I just didn't think I could maintain it in a healthy way (frizz central), so I went for an a-line bob. The most satisfying part is that I did it myself.
I'm pleased with the results, and it's super-easy with the Crea-Clip (and NO I am not affiliated with them :)
As for the weight loss, I've lost 6 lbs of my goal of 30. I've been working on Project: Me for about two months now, but I didn't lose any of that weight until I started the Cinch! (now S.A.S.S!) program by Cynthia Sass 2 weeks ago. I am not the type to fall for trendy diets and detoxes, but Cynthia's plan is to change the way you eat forever - to be as vegetarian/vegan as possible, to eat whole, organic, locally-grown foods, and to cut out the processed foods from your diet. She provides so many recipes that it is so easy. That is exactly what I needed to make a change: to be told exactly what to eat, how, and when. She also got me drinking at least 8 cups of water a day, so I can attribute that success to Cynthia as well.
I'm not drinking much alcohol because it's been March/April and I have two tots - let's face it, I don't get out much. I've also been on full-time mommy-duty 7 days a week since my husband is an accountant and it's tax season. That doesn't give me much weekend time to "party". I don't miss it much, though.
Finally, walking. I was doing so well with the walks. I'd take the girls outside on walks when it was warmer, and walk at night on the treadmill. Then both of my girls got sick, and then I got sick, so it was 2 weeks of tired grossness. If I add exercise to the Cinch! plan, I'll meet my goal of 30 lbs gone in no time.
How about you? How has your Spring been? Have you been making time for self-care? What have you been working on lately?
