So, besides eating the warm, gooey, sweet goodness of a pie, I realized my favorite part of baking a pie is playing around with the pie crust. There are so many combination of outer and top crust patterns, I'll never run out of ideas to try.
So far, I've done the woven lattice method:
and for Memorial Day this year, I went with punched-out star silhouettes, which I then used to line the outer crust with:
Every time I've made pie 100% from scratch, I've made blueberry. The first time I made it was because I had frozen blueberries in my freezer; every time since is because it was so good, my husband keeps requesting it!
