I want to know: what are your 6 favorite things to do at home? This is the first Nice to Meet You link up, and today, we are all answering that question. Share your answer with six photos on your own blog, or use a Pinterest board, a Facebook album, or right in the comments below! Be sure to link to your post in the linky at the end of this post!
Now, here are my six favorite things to do at home...
1. First, I start every day off with a cup of coffee. I love making coffee with my press pot, and on the weekends, I like to make homemade lattes.
2. My husband and I have very different hobbies, but we always make time for each other. I love to spend a night or two a week cuddling on the couch, watching 30 Rock, How I Met Your Mother, or Mad Men. He might not admit it, but we also watched Downton Abbey together :)
3. Reading. I thought this seemed like a cliched answer, but it's true. When I'm not working at home, I'll often have some quiet time reading. I mostly read non-fiction, but there are some guilty pleasures now and then.
4. I love cooking and baking. I'm not the best cook, but I really love to experiment. I also have a sweet tooth, so there's a lot of dessert in our house.
5. Garden. We just bought our first house last year, so this was my first chance to garden. I have no idea what I'm doing, I'm learning as I go, but I feel so proud when I bring in food to eat.
6. Making my house a home. As I said, this is our first house, and I'm really enjoying putting it all together, and making it feel like ours.
So now I ask you: what do you like to do at home? Answer this question in 6 different images (unless you're just leaving a comment as your entry, describe your 6 things).

That pie is beautiful! I don't even like pies, but something that pretty would make me want to eat it anyways.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Rachel!
ReplyDeleteOh we are very similar in our things we like to do at home! I love the picture of inside your home! It makes me think of sunshine and happiness!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Tonya! I am definitely going for a sunshine vibe in the dining room :)
DeleteHi Ashley! It's nice to meet you—and your lovely blog! Thanks for organizing this linky party.
ReplyDeleteHi Chris, it's nice to meet you, too! Thank you SO much for being a part of it all!
DeleteWe have very similar interests! By the way, I noticed on your 'about' page that you play the violin. I too played through my first year in college. Do you ever get it out to play some songs for your girls? Mine get a kick out of it - they don't notice that I'm out of tune. ;)
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome, Haeley! Mine had been in dis-repair for a few years until 2010, when my husband got it fixed up for me as a b-day gift and I played it a lot - the girls loved it! Now I've had a broken string for a year and keep forgetting to replace it - I'm terrible about it now :-/ Hopefully one of the girls will want to play it in school.
DeleteAnother gardening coffee drinker like me!! I have just planted a huge veggie garden so hoping to eat from the land this summer! Love your post.
ReplyDeleteThanks Eva! What kind of veggies did you plant?
DeleteYay! I'm about to do mine! Good 6 things :)
ReplyDeleteLove your home! And I'm a coffee lover too! I enjoy trying new creamers. It's becoming a hobby. Lol. Excited to be your newest follower!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for joining in, Whitney! I just read your list - we have a lot in common :) I really respect your enjoyment of cleaning. I really wish I enjoyed the little daily tasks more than I do - it's something I need to work on.
Deletepress pot coffee is so good! if i weren't so rushed in the mornings, i'd make more of it (but that just got me thinking that maybe i can start using the press pot again on weekends!). i also love making our house a home (even if we only rent right now). it's a great challenge but really rewarding when things start to come together. great post, Ashley!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Erika! I've been doing press pot coffee for a little more than a month now, and I'm really glad I switched. It definitely is a bit more time consuming, but I'm still surprised every day about how much better it tastes.
DeleteI want to reach into your post right now and pluck out the coffee, the cozy sofa and about 3 of those books and while the afternoon away. Your house looks so cute, too!
ReplyDelete:) Thank you, Jeanette!
DeleteI like nonfiction too and the stars on the blueberry pie - my fav : ) Nice to meet you!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Ann! I enjoyed getting to know you on your post as well :)
DeleteHi Ashley, have to say, yumm on the pie. I'm right there with you on the garden. Learning and loving every tasty thing that comes from it. Nice to meet you!
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you too, Jen!
DeleteI LOVE that gallery wall that you have!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dani! :)
DeleteI'm from the GFC party stopping in to say hi! I'm a new follower, your blog is awesome & I will be participating next week, this seems fun!
ReplyDeleteHey Nikki! It's looking like our link-ups will be monthly now - I think our next link-up will be Sept. 14th - I hope you join in! :)
DeleteHi Ashley! Nice to meet you!
ReplyDeleteI love How I Met Your Mother. My boyfriend and I are always snuggled on the couch watching it on Netflix. Along with a few other tv shows.
I would love to start gardening. Too bad I dont have any outdoor space at my current apartment. :(
I totally feel for you with the outdoor space - this was our first summer with space to do it, previously we've been in apartments and dorms since 2003! If you're really interested in gardening, I've even had some success with small plants in a shady window - it's nice to even have herbs growing in small pots.
