I started making my own vanilla extract a couple of years ago. The main reason was because I was sick of paying ridiculously high prices for pure vanilla extract. For a fraction of the cost, I could buy a cheap bottle of vodka and some fresh vanilla beans to make my own.
This year I decided to make some as part of handmade Christmas gifts. I found these cute little corked bottles at my local craft store.
- fill your container with vodka
- add half a vanilla bean, bent in half
All it takes is to let them sit in a dark cupboard for a few weeks to a couple of months, and you have homemade vanilla extract ready to cook and bake with.
Since I've just started dabbling in digital design this year, I've made some printable labels to go with my vanilla extract bottles. I'm sharing them with you as well!

There are six different designs on the PDF sheet. The sweet wreath with the bow was designed by The Ink Nest - my favorite source for clip art! I'm sad to say that the bow & wreath label is just ever-so-slightly blurry when you print it out, but not blurry enough that I wouldn't use it. I'm sorry! This was my first attempt EVER at a non-hand drawn printable freebie.
Any way, go ahead and download, print, cut, and feed through a sticker maker OR just use label sheets to print on. Happy Holidays!
