It's painted a similar color to my own room. The previous owner of our house painted my bedroom navy blue - the photo below is from the realtor's website:
It's not just the wall colors - we also have similar architecture. There is another wider window in my room on the other wall, just like in the Benjamin Moore photo.
I don't want to copy it exactly. In fact, I hate having my bed under a window, and I wouldn't have room for big nightstands on either side. You can see in my "before" house tour from last January that I've picked a new spot for the bed:
I haven't done much of anything with my room except for hanging sheer white curtains on the windows, much like the Benjamin Moore example.
My room could definitely use a few punches of color. I'm really intrigued by the painted ceiling in the example photo - that's something I never thought to do. I think adding white trim would be necessary in that case.
Ultimately, my room will be the last room I finish in my house. I've never been interested in decorating with blue (although I've toyed with the idea), but it is quite a calming color, and easy to work with. My blue is a bit brighter and bolder than Benjamin Moore's "evening dove" - but I think I can work a similar look with it.
What do you think of this blue color I have been given in this room? Would you keep it, or say good bye? If you were to add a pop of color, what would you add? Do you like what Benjamin Moore has done?

love those blue hues.
ReplyDeletewe painted our bedroom ceiling a straw color he walls are called black rose....deep burgundy brown....which I used on the ceiling of the room next to it (our lounge/game room/guest room). everyone loves it when they come it...i think in part, because it's so unexpected.
When I see this color, I think dark coral accent pieces would really be a nice complement! Sounds like a Home Goods trip could be in order :)
ReplyDeleteBoth bedrooms have that tranquil, spa-like feeling due to the calm, deep blue on the walls. Clean, crisp white would a perfect accompaniment for this dramatic color of blue. Splashes of color can be added in throw pillows and accessories - along with shiny metal pieces such as silver, chrome and mercury glass.
ReplyDeleteWould love to see photos of it after you've completed your decorating.
