Have you read the welcome post yet? it has some tips to help you get the most out of this boot camp!
One of the only things that stops us from going where we want to go is our own mind:
Doubt.
Guilt.
Stress.
Fear.
Uncertainty.
Negativity.
All of these things can stop us in our tracks and prevent us from what we want to be:
Creative.
Productive.
Organized.
Determined.
Brave.
Positive.
Sharp.
Free.
Before we begin the journey to uncover our full potential, we must first break through all of the deadweight holding us back. Through this exercise you will discover the thoughts, emotions, goals, activities, and obligations that are no longer serving you in a meaningful or positive way - and get rid of them. In the end, you will be left with a focus list of the top tasks that actually enrich your life.

On this worksheet I want you to record everything that's on your mind - the good and the bad. Every task on your mental to-do list for the next day/week/month/year; every thought that is causing you worry or dread; every activity that makes you smile and glow; and let's not forget the mundane day-to-day chores. Anything on your mind - write it down.

Notebook Question
After completing your assignment, give it a look over. Is your brain dump filled with any one main category or theme? Is your list rich on emotions, thoughts, goals, or commitments? Why do you think that is?

This was a really good exercise, and not normally something I would have thought of doing. Looking at my list it seems to be a combination of excitement (and stress!) of waiting to exchange contracts on my very first home with my partner, and feeling the need for more creative fulfilment - to put it briefly!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to the rest of the course :)
I'm glad you enjoyed it, Lucy! I know how you feel about all of the real estate paper work - we just bought our first house not that long ago. It is a stressful, but very exciting time! Good luck, and I hope you find some time for relaxation and creativity!

Wow, I really loved doing this (I know, I'm starting in on the project a little late, but better late than never)! It was so good to get my thoughts and feelings out of my head and down on paper. My list is filled with cleaning and organizational goals, which makes sense since my husband and I just moved into a new place this month and are working to get it the way we want it. I can't wait to see what the next few weeks of the boot camp reveal to me! :) Thanks for putting this whole thing together!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for joining the Boot Camp with us, Ali! The course can be done daily as I post, or you can space the lessons and homework out to fit your own schedule! I hope you're enjoying your new place - hope to see you back here again, too! -Ashley
DeleteHi Ashley, wow, well done for putting this course together! It looks very promising and I think it will suit me to the ground. I will certainly give it a go, although in my own pace..., i.e. a bit slower. The days are very filled and I don't always have the energy late in the evening. (Sounds like the perfect reason to go and do it, right?!?) Best wishes, Trinske
ReplyDeleteI'm totally with you on that, Trinske - I've been pretty much drained lately in the evenings, once I get the kids in bed. By all means, please take the course at a pace that works for you - I certainly wouldn't want anyone to get MORE stressed because of it! :)
DeleteOK, so this is a bit later the planned, but it was a good exercise, as it has got me really thinking about it. What wears me down is a lot of cleaning, tidying and organisational tasks, but at the same time I find it difficult to let these go as I do really like a clean and organised environment. There are not a lot of things I feel I can free myself from, so that list remains very short with only 2 things on it, perhaps too short.... I realise though that it's better to focus on the positive things that are important to me as opposed to be dominated by what wears me down. I'm realising I like to focus more on learning new things and get a sense of achievement with my business (personal growth) and be more creative (make things with my hands and develop my blog) as well as spending time with my children, family and friends.
ReplyDeleteTrinske, I know you asked me if I could move your comment to the other post, but I haven't figured out how to do that on Blogger yet!
DeleteI know what you mean about liking things cleaned and organized. I grew up with a mother who was extremely clean and organized - managed to clean the house every day with 3 kids and her own business - so I am a little obsessed with making things perfect. The trouble is: it never stays that way!
I definitely plan to come back to this subject in week 4, because I think it is important that we find a way to get housework done without letting it encroach on our limited family and creative time. I hope everything is going well for you! -Ashley
I am starting way too late. The list mainly consists of the fear of not finding my targeted customers, who like to buy my craft online.I want to target ladies aged 24 to 60 as my targeted customers. But, I am not sure, what they like to buy, that is crocheted.
