Today's August Break topic is love. I never realized how many moments of true love I experience in a day. I'm not the type of person who photographs all of our family outings - I almost always forget my camera - but today's moment of true love came when my girls were playing outside. My daughter picked up the chalk and just started writing words!
This comes a day after she picked up a book she had never seen before and started reading it out loud to us. It's like a mental growth spurt - one day she can't read and write, the next day she can.
I know it doesn't magically happen over night - we have been working on it for a while - but to see her just sit down and start writing "cat", "dog", "hat", fly", "pie", unassisted... I was filled with a feeling of love that really sticks inside.
August Break encouraged me to go get the camera and capture this moment. While most days I would just soak in the moment and tell my mom about it later, I now have a memory to show my daughter some day and she will have her first unassisted words to cherish.
