Happy Thursday! It’s a snowday here in Mid-Michigan! We’re a little buried in our house, but the storm has rolled out of town and the sun is shining again. Now let’s get down to the three things I love this Thursday:
► I am loving this “Boozy Shamrock Shake” recipe by Kaitlin Flannery on Apartment Therapy. I came across this tempting Instagram video on Kaitlin’s @Whiskkid account this week and have been wanting to try it ever since! We certainly don’t need any more cold right now in Michigan, but McDonald’s has been tempting me (and this recipe has booze in it) so I am willing to overlook the chill factor.
► I’ve also been thinking about trying DIY faux marble. In fact, I’m tempted to cover everything with it (I won’t). First it was my kitchen counters. Next, it was my bathroom vanity. Now, it’s my concrete fireplace mantel. The kit I want has mostly favorable reviews, and the look you get based on the technique you choose is totally versatile. There are many other kits and colors to choose from, but I keep coming back to the Giani White Diamond paint kit* for the faux marble look.
► Finally… banana leaves. I know this trend is nothing new, but I can’t stop thinking about the idea of a banana leaf print in my living room. Ever since we got a new charcoal grey couch, my living is too dark. I already have slate grey curtains, a black/white/grey stripe rug, and light gray walls. I need some bright colors to add a punch of happy to the room! As I already have a lot of teal, blue, and mint in the room, I’d love to mix in some forest or emerald green for a real pop of color. This post from Brit & Co. has plenty of inspiration, but I’m really sold on banana leaf curtains or pillows, like this one from Society6 artist Nikki.
